You may know Teresa and I from Kirk & Family Mercantile. I am the 5th generation to live in Dorena. My Great Grandfather settled in Dorena in the mid 1860’s, the Kirk family returned in 2003 to open Kirk & Family Mercantile.

My personal involvement with the community started with the store, followed by my involvement with the Row River Valley Water District. The experience I offer is built on 21 years in the Navy, 26 years at The Boeing Company, and working to form and build the Water district.

The knowledge and leadership skills built in these diverse fields along with interacting with the community give me a unique perspective. I fully support the Fire District for the following reasons: 1. Immediate dispatch of volunteers from a phone call to 911. 2. Trained and equipped firefighters and emergency responders. 3. Affordable insurance.

Achievable goals: 1. An understanding of the needs of the whole community. 2. An understanding of the requirements government agencies will impose on the district. 3. Create a vision to meld these perspectives into a cohesive vision. 4. Create a plan to achieve the goals.
