My name is Sue Brown, also known as Safety Sue! I worked at Costco Wholesale for 29 + years, including 10 years as the Eugene Warehouse Safety Coordinator. I have lived up in Disston for over 26 years. I am excited for our collective future; for a safer community, one that is more inclusive, caring, looking out for one’s neighbors.

Many years ago, I was awoken in the middle of the night to see my neighbor’s home engulfed in flames! I immediately called 911. I gave my address and requested help! The 911 operator said: “You don’t have fire protection. All I can do is send a sheriff.” My stomach dropped – running outside to see my neighbors pulling their garden hoses as far as possible to battle the flames. Our efforts were not enough. I don’t want this to happen to anyone. I want to listen and be a voice for Disston and the greater community.

Working together we can make all our lives safer and improve the quality of life in our valley.
